Durham and Sunderland won their first 2 games, while Hertfordshire were still undefeated on a win and a loss. However, the games had all been close, as evidenced by the fact that the bottom placed team were only on -4 shot difference.

Sunderland, who had won all 3 of their games, were now clear leaders. Hertfordshire still hadn’t lost, but had drawn one. Northumberland and Durham were on 4 points.

The top 4 teams all finished the first day with wins. Sunderland had the maximum 8 points, Hertfordshire were on 7, and Northumberland and Durham had 6. The bottom 4 teams were well adrift, with no one on more than 2 points.

Sunday started with an interesting set of results. Leaders Sunderland lost, Hertfordshire drew, and Northumberland won, which meant that all three were now on 8 points.

The penultimate round saw Hertfordshire and Northumberland win, putting them both on 10points, while Durham beat Sunderland to put both of them on 8.

While Hertfordshire won their final game, Northumberland fell to Durham. That left Herts clear at the top on 12 points, while Durham's victory meant that they pipped Northumberland for the runner-up spot.

With two games played, three teams, Durham, Essex, and Sunderland, led the way, each having won twice.

Essex lost their third game, while Durham and Sunderland won again, to put the two of them 2 points clear of the rest.

Sunderland suffered their first loss as Saturday ended, and with Durham winning again, they were now 2 points clear at the top. Essex were now on 5 points, and Cambridgeshire, having lost their two opening games, had now won 2 in a row to move into 4th place.

After Sunday’s opening games, only 2 teams were left in the running. Durham kept their perfect record, Sunderland won their 4th game, to stay 2 points behind, and the best of the rest were on 5 points.

The title was settled with a game to spare, as Durham and Sunderland played one another. Durham took their 6th win, leaving them 4 points clear at the top, and even a loss in their final game (spoiling their 100% record), still left them with a winning margin of 3 points, as Herfordshire came through from 6th overnight, to finish runners-up.

Durham, Herts, and Essex won both opening games, while Sunderland had dropped just a point.

Durham were the only team to make it 3 out of 3, they led Sunderland by a point, while Essex and Herts both lost.

Of the top 4 only Durham and Hertfordshire ended Saturday on a winning note. Herts now moved into second, 2 points behind the leaders, with Sunderland a further point back.

Sunday opened with the top 3 all recording wins, to maintain their relative positions.

Both Durham (who beat Sunderland), and Hertfordshire won. Although the title was still technically in play, with a 2 point and 22 shot lead, nothing short of an utter catastrophe would prevent Durham from landing the trophy.

There was no catastrophe, Durham won their final game to finish on maximum points, and ended up winning by 4 points, as Herts lost, but still kept second place.

Ross and Ian retained the title they won last year.

Adam (Sunderland), Colin (Essex), and Kevin (Durham), all won their two opening games.

Only Adam made it 3 wins out of 3, as there was a sharing-out of wins behind him, which meant that second place was shared by Colin, Kevin, Pete (Herts), and David (Northumberland).

With the exception of Colin, it was wins all round in the final session on Saturday, which meant that Adam retained him 2 point lead going into Sunday.

Adam (Sunderland) won again as Sunday opened, moving on to 10 points. Pete (Herts), and Kevin (Durham) also won, and stayed 2 points behind, but David (Northumberland) lost, putting him out of contention.

Adam finally lost, against Kevin, and with Pete winning again, there was now a three-way tie for the lead, with all of them on 10 points.

Of the top 3, only Pete and Kevin won their final games, with the shot advantage Pete had carried into their final round, being the determining factor. He took the title by 3 shots.

Team
After two sessions, a clear split had emerged. Durham, Sunderland, Essex, and Hertfordshire were in the top half, all in double figures, while the remaining 4 counties only had 8 points between them.

The third session saw the field starting to string out. Sunderland had a 3 point lead over Durham, with Herts the next best, in 3rd, another 5 points back.

Saturday ended with a reversal of the top 2 teams, Durham now taking the lead on 28 points, but they were only just ahead of Sunderland, who were on 27. Hertfordshire cemented their 3rd spot, moving on to 22 points, another 5 points clear of next best Northumberland.

Durham and Sunderland matched one another in Sunday’s opening session, while Hertfordshire closed very slightly on both of them, but just 1 point.

The penultimate session saw Durham playing Sunderland, and while it had been close between them all weekend, it was Durham who came out on top, winning all 4 games, to put themselves 5 points clear with one session to go.

And that was the same margin that remained as the final round of games ended, Durham on top, on 48 points, with Hertfordshire having come through to finish second, on 43 points.
