The 2026 ECBA Triples was hosted by Essex at Littleport on 13th September.

There were 31 entries comprising of players from across the Eastern Counties, together with one who came all the way down from Sunderland for the day.

Group Games
The teams were divided into 6 groups with the group winners and 2 best runners-up progressing to the knockout rounds.

Group 1 was won by Bottisham Social Club who were the only team on the day who were able to win all their group games. The runners-up were Reepham Robins 3 whose 3 wins were enough to see them through as well.

Winners of Group 2 were Hunters 2 whose 3 wins were enough to see them through ahead of 2 teams on 5 points.

Sea Palling were comfortable winners of Group 3, they were undefeated, although they did drop 1 point, finishing 3 points clear of the next best teams.

Group 4 saw the tightest finish with 2 teams who both won 3 games and drew with each other. Barking/Needham just finished ahead of Herts 1 by 3 shots. Both teams progressed.

Group 5 could easily have finished with all 5 teams on 4 points, but Withersfield 2 ended up with 3 wins, 2 points clear of three teams.

And finally, Littleport took Group 6, winning 3 games and finishing a point clear of their closest rivals.

Quarter Finals
Barking/Needham got out to an early lead over Sea Palling and went on to win 8-4.

Reepham Robins 3 edged away from Bottisham Social Club to take a 5-3 win.

Withersfield 2 and Littleport went into the final end all square, but Withersfield just took it on the final end, winning 5-4.

Hunters 2 wont he first 3 ends of their game to hold a narrow lead, but Herts 1 came back at them, winning the remaining ends and taking a 6-3 win.

Semi-Finals
Withersfield 2 were no match for Herts 1, they won the first end, but the next 3 went to Herts won ran out 8-2 winners.

It was nip and tuck all the way through between Reepham Robins 3 and Barking/Needham. A 4 on the 4th end to Barking/Needham ought to have wrapped the game up, but Reepham came back to level the game with an end to go only for Barking/Needham to snatch the game at the last, 7-6.

Final
Herts 1 (Pete Cook, Neil Tuckey & Maz Cook) v Barking/Needham (Neil Jolly, Stephen Cain & Jaxon McKenna)

Having played one another in the group stage and drawn, the two teams found themselves facing one another a one final decider.

They were as evenly matched as might have been imagined but in truth the game was settled on the only second end with Herts' first 3 woods dropping right onto the jack, and although the head was moved about slightly, those shots all still counted when the end was over. That put Herts 4-1 up, a lead which they extended slightly so that going into the last they held a 4 shot lead, and there was no way they were going to give the game up from there. In the end Barking/Needham settled for one on the last, leaving Herts 1 as 7-4 winners.
