On behalf of Bedfordshire County Carpet Bowls Association. I would like to say how sorry we were to hear the passing away of Harold.

Harold, along with his wife Patricia started playing carpet bowls back in 1996 when they were founder members of Colmworth Carpet Bowls Club.

Over the course of time Harold established himself as a regular face amongst the carpet bowls world by playing for his club in the Bedfordshire league, friendly matches and local open competitions. Then later, Harold and Patricia joined Cotton End Club.

He was a member of the county side and took part in the competitions in the Eastern Counties League. This was carried on by taking part in the Nationals at Potters.

Success came for Harold when playing in the Bedfordshire competitions at Barton village hall by winning the pairs with Patricia in the 2011/12 season and Harold winning the singles in 2012/13 season.

They both took part in many T & D tournaments across the country and had many a good run in various competitions by winning the Hemsby pairs in 2009 and the Lakeside pairs in the same year. In 2015 Harold and Patricia as a pair were 4th in the T&D order of fame.

Harold was a lovely guy and well respected by all across BCCBA and other counties. He will be surely missed as he was such a big part of the Bedfordshire Carpet Bowls family.

Our thoughts go out to Patricia and Harold’s family at this sad time.

Thank you to those who stood out for the cortege to the church it was very much appreciated, we were very touched by it all.
